On December 13, 2024, the Doctoral Program in Agricultural and Natural Sciences of the University of Zaragoza held its annual Welcome and Evaluation Day in the Degree Hall of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The program is coordinated by Professor Asunción Usón, and researcher Lola Quílez (CITA) is part of the Academic Committee. Both are part of the RAMA Group.
This year, six researchers in training from the group participated in the day:
- Adrián Aladrén Pérez, who presented his work on Intensification of extensive semi-arid dryland crops: Sustainable alternatives to the traditional tilled fallow system.
- Marcos Bongiovanni Ferreyra, who presented his work on: Analysis and optimization of the use of water and energy and crop yield in the irrigated area of ”Monte Saso de Biota”.
- Mirela Mujkic, who presented her work on: Sustainable use of water and soil resources to reduce the environmental impact of agricultural activities and mitigate.
- Alexey Valero Jorge, who presented his work on: Modeling and remote sensing for updating the water demand of crops in large irrigated areas in the face of the challenge of improving water management in a context of climate change.
- Inés Zugasti López, who presented her work on: Productive and environmental effects of intensification in irrigated agrosystems in the Ebro valley.
- Adrián Jarne Casasús, who presented his work on: Optimization of the management of hay meadows in the central Pyrenees.
In total, 27 research trainees have presented their progress. They are developing their theses in two centres (Higher Polytechnic School and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine) and one Department (Agricultural and Environmental Sciences) of the University of Zaragoza, or in one of the collaborating research institutes (EEAD-CSIC, IPE-CSIC, CITA-Gob. Aragón and IAMZ-CIHEAM).
