The “Remedia” network seizes funding from the State Research Agency

The State Research Agency of the Government of Spain (AEI) has awarded a grant to the Scientific Network for the Mitigation of Greenhouse Gases in the Agroforestry Sector (Red Remedia) in its 2024 call for Research Networks (‘Strategic Networks’ modality).
The Remedia Network was created in 2012 as a meeting forum to integrate, advance and disseminate the existing scientific evidence in Spain on the mitigation of climate change (reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and increase in carbon sequestration) in the agroforestry sector.
Currently, the Remedia Network is made up of 34 research groups spread throughout Spain and belonging to both universities and national and regional research centers.

The awarded project, entitled “National Climate Change Mitigation Strategy for the Agricultural, Livestock and Forestry Sectors in the Context of the Remedia Network (REMEDIA+)”, will allow, over the next two years, the development of a national strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the agricultural, livestock and forestry sectors. The development of this strategy will not only support and advise public administrations and other relevant actors, but it will also promote synergies between researchers and facilitate the adoption of mitigation practices adapted to the different existing conditions.
The EEAD-CSIC and RAMA group researcher, Jorge Álvaro Fuentes, is the current coordinator of the Remedia Network. In addition, Samuel Franco-Luesma, a researcher at CITA and member of the RAMA group, serves in the Network’s Board of Directors.
