On September 25, 2025, the Almudévar Water Users Association (WUA) celebrated its centenary. This is the oldest WUA in the Riegos del Alto Aragón Irrigation System. The Almudévar WUA is one year older than the Ebro River Basin Organization, which will celebrate its centenary in 2026.
The centenary celebration was inaugurated by the WUA President, Ismael Ballesteros. The event was attended by Isaac Claver, President of the Huesca Provincial Council; María Dolores Pascual, Director General of Water of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge; José Manuel Cruz, Director General of Rural Development of the Government of Aragon; José Antonio Pradas, President of the Riegos del Alto Aragón Irrigation System; Lola Ibort, Provincial Deputy; Sofía Avellanas, Mayor of Almudévar; and Victor Morales, Technical Director of SEIASA, among other figures.
Researchers from the RAMA Group had a prominent presence at the event, as illustrated in the following photographs. This is because the Almudévar WUA has been one of the Group’s main areas of study since its creation. RAMA Researchers have conducted research in Almudévar on diffuse agricultural pollution, irrigation modernization, agricultural hydrology, and soil science.

Below is a file with a list of 26 research publications produced by the RAMA Group in the Almudévar WUA since 1985. This represents forty years of research in the area! We sincerely thank the Almudévar WUA for their invitation to the event… we are ready to cellebrate the next centenary!
